Annual Leave
If an employee has worked for a company for over than six months, they typically earn 21 days of paid yearly leave in the region. Employees obtain full month of paid leave at turning 50 (or after ten years of service with the same employer).
Sick Leave
Employees typically qualify for no more than 6 months of sick leave with pay.
Parental Leave
Female employees are eligible for a paid 90-day maternity leave. However, most contracts stipulate that women can only take maternity leave twice every five years.
Health Insurance
Businesses in the private sector are required to offer their staff members free healthcare, either privately or via the Health Benefits Package of the Ministry of Social Insurance.
Termination
Probationary periods cannot last for more than three months. The Ministry of Manpower and Immigration has a body with judicial authority that employers seeking to fire employees must appear before. Within 15 days, the board will decide whether or not to grant the proposal. As a result, the employer has the right to fire the employees, but if they believe it was unjust, they may sue.
Taxes
For residents whose primary place of business, industry, or profession is Egypt, worker tax rate is calculated on the entire net earnings both inside and outside the region. Moreover, a tax will apply on non-residents’ earnings for money they make in Egypt. The annual tax exemption is equal to 9.000 EGP.
The social security contributions are as follows:
- Worker Share 11% or 18.85%.
- BOD is 21%.
- ER Fund: 1% of base pay (max. base salary is 2.210 EGP).
