Moreover, this legislation allows companies to hold shares or stock and to participate in foreign limited liability companies. Similarly, holding companies have the right to grant guarantees or loans to such LLCs and to manage such companies, hold intellectual, and industrial property rights.
In 2016, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MOSAL) stated a new form of employment contract template in the country for all private-sector workers. In addition, there must be 3 copies of the employment contracts:
- The 1st contract is for the employee.
- The 2nd copy is for the company.
- And the 3rd copy is for the MOSAL.
However, according to the labor law of Kuwait, the short-form contract requires the following parts:
- The signing of the effective dates.
- Amount of compensation.
- If the contract is for a specific term or it is unspecified.
- The nature of the work.
Work hours in the country
The labor law of Kuwait sets 8 hours per day and 48 hours weekly is required for all employees. In the same vein, the worker is allowed 1 hour of break or rest for every 5 continuous hours of work. However, this 1 hour of break or rest is not included in the total of working hours.
